OLD BENONIANS CRICKET CLUB (previously United C.C)
Affiliated to the Eastern Cricket Union
Established:
HISTORY OF THE CLUB:
United Cricket Club was formed at the beginning of the 2008-2009 season through the amalgamation of Brakpan Cricket Club and Airfield Youth Cricket Club (AYCC). Both these clubs had a long and proud history. The change in demographics in the Ekurhuleni area however necessitated the amalgamation.
The amalgamation took place under the auspices of the Eastern Cricket Union (ECU) and the Eastern Junior Cricket Club Association (EJCCA) and was managed by Mark Kitching, AYCC Chairman with the support of the committee.
The club sees itself as a growing club and our vision is to become ‘The Cricket Club of Choice’ in the Eastern Cricket Union. In order to achieve this we are actively working to excel in the administration and management of the club – good corporate governance, discipline, sportsmanship and fun are some of the core values of the club. We are also actively recruiting at the under 8 level and intend to build a club with competent senior teams utilizing the current committed players and complimenting them with players that comes through the ranks.
The club eventually regained its premier league status for the first time as United in the 2013/14 season.
